📱 Play TikTok on Android Without Root or Removing the SIM Card: A Practical Guide
When you access TikTok from an Android phone in mainland China, you usually run into a "black screen" or "content won't load" problem. This is because TikTok checks the phone's SIM carrier code (MCC), and once it identifies a Chinese carrier (code 460), it blocks the content. This tutorial shows you how to use Shizuku together with the Nrfr tool to spoof the carrier information and fully unlock TikTok without Root and without removing the SIM card.

🛠️ Prerequisites
- An Android phone (Android 7.0+ recommended).
- Network environment: You need a censorship-circumvention (VPN) setup (TikTok also checks your IP, so make sure your node is overseas).
- A data cable & a computer (used to activate Shizuku over ADB; on Android 11+ you can skip the computer).
🚀 Step 1: Set Up the System Permission Bridge (Shizuku)
Shizuku is a tool that lets ordinary apps use privileged system APIs without Root. It is the foundation for the SIM card information changes that follow.
1. Download and Install
Go to GitHub and download the latest version of Shizuku:
- Project page: RikkaApps/Shizuku
- You can also search for and install it on Google Play or Coolapk.
2. Activate Shizuku
Choose an activation method based on your phone’s OS version:
🅰️ Option A: Wireless debugging activation (recommended for Android 11+)
- Connect the phone to Wi-Fi.
- Open Shizuku and tap “Pair” under “Start via wireless debugging”.
- Go to the phone’s “Developer options” -> enable “Wireless debugging” -> tap “Pair device with pairing code”.
- Enter the pairing code in the Shizuku notification.
- Go back to the Shizuku home screen and tap “Start”.
🅱️ Option B: Computer ADB activation (works everywhere)
-
Enable “USB debugging” on the phone and connect it to the computer.
-
Download the ADB tools (Platform-tools) on the computer.
-
In a computer terminal (CMD/PowerShell), run the following command to check the connection status:
adb devices(make sure it shows
device) -
Run the activation command:
adb shell /data/app/~~SEiHrVew6ANBDc-d7OHeLQ==/moe.shizuku.privileged.api-e2FiboEaaaKZyeKO3uP6zA==/lib/arm64/libshizuku.so -
If you see
exit with 0, it started successfully, and Shizuku on the phone will show “Running”.
🔧 Step 2: Spoof the Carrier Information (Nrfr)
Nrfr is a tool that runs on top of Shizuku. It intercepts system APIs and returns a fake SIM card country code to the specified app.
1. Download and Install
Go to GitHub and download the latest version of Nrfr:
- Project page: Ackites/Nrfr
2. Configure the Spoofing
- Open the Nrfr app.
- Authorize: On first launch a Shizuku authorization prompt appears; tap “Always allow”.
- Select the app: Find and check TikTok in the app list (if it is grayed out and cannot be checked, install TikTok first).
- Set the region:
- Tap the top-right corner or the settings entry and find SIM Info or Region.
- Change the carrier code (MCC) to a foreign code.
- Recommended values:
- United States:
310(Verizon/AT&T, etc.) - Japan:
440(Softbank, etc.)
- United States:
- The app usually has preset country options; just pick US or JP.
- Save and apply: Make sure the toggle is on.
On Android 16, Nrfr no longer works; use the alternative TurboIMS
▶️ Step 3: Install and Get Started
1. Download TikTok
- Recommended source: the Google Play Store (guarantees a genuine, untampered build).
- Alternative: trusted third-party sites such as APKMirror.
2. Verify It Works
- Turn on your VPN: Make sure your IP address is in an unrestricted region such as the US or Japan (ideally matching the region you set in Nrfr).
- Open TikTok.
- If videos load normally, your SIM card spoofing worked!
❓ FAQ (Q&A)
Q1: TikTok still shows a black screen / says there is no network connection?
- Check the network: TikTok’s risk controls are very strict, and ordinary nodes may not be able to access it; you need a native IP or a streaming-unlock node.
- Check the spoofing: Confirm that Shizuku is running (Shizuku stops after a phone reboot and must be reactivated).
Q2: Do I have to connect to a computer every time I reboot the phone?
Yes. Without Root, ADB permissions are lost after a reboot, Shizuku stops working, and Nrfr stops working too. You need to run the activation command from Step 1 again.
Q3: Why can’t Nrfr find TikTok?
Make sure you have installed TikTok and tap the refresh button in the top-right corner of the Nrfr list.
